As you know, dear reader, I am a big fan of YA and I finally got what I wanted on Monday: a great YA event.
We have events in Perth like Supanova and The Perth Writers Festival that sometimes have a little talk about YA or that show off YA books, but not an event wholly focused on YA that is open to everyone.
Based on the people that turned up to PTALive we, the YA fans of Perth, definitely want something like this to happen more often in Perth. There were definitely enough people at the event to support another event and maybe bring even more people next time. All that is needed are great events that cater to us that are properly advertised.
Penguin Teen Australia has stepped up to the plate, will anyone else take up the challenge of bringing another event to Perth or will we be faced with another year looking on with envy to events on the other side of Australia and around the world?
As Felicity, the host of PTALive said at the event, "Perth is a city too and we demand to be felt." We want and need great YA events, too.
