When I was a teenager, I read Looking for Alaska by John Green and, of course, I loved it. From there I read Paper Towns and a few years later, The Fault in Our Stars. There is no denying that Green is a wonderful writer, but his dedication to decreasing world suck is pretty amazing.
John Green, first and foremost, talks to his fans about everything and anything on his main youtube channel, Vlogbrothers.
Some of the other channels he's involved in include: Sci Show, Crash Course, The Art Assignment , Hank Games and Mental Floss, to name a few.
He apart of DFTBA records which sell a bunch of nerdy stuff and some of the money from selected products go to charities. Every year he raises money for charities through The Project For Awesome with the help of other youtubers. He also started an entire website where his fans can go and talk and generally be awesome.
Besides all that, John Green is awesome because he can still decrease world suck while doing stuff like this:
